Communications Associate Consultant

Salary: £25K-30K depending on experience

Role overview 

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a talented team across a range of UK and EU accounts, supporting the implementation of political communication strategies. It is a wide-ranging and busy role focused on events, media relations, social media and reputation management.

The new Communications Associate Consultant would thrive in a fast-moving entrepreneurial atmosphere, have a proven interest in politics and public affairs and a knowledge and interest in media relations, social media and event management.

Responsibilities:

  • Delivering communication and influencing strategies to deadlines, and regularly reporting back to clients.
  • Production of communications materials including reports, briefs, press releases, thought leadership, speeches and presentations.
  • Producing multimedia content (videos, infographics) for social media.
  • Researching, building and maintaining a network of influential journalists and increasing breadth and depth of contacts with policy influencers and industry commentators relevant to the agency’s sectors.
  • Supporting the delivery of events for Whitehouse and its clients, including booking rooms, liaising with guests, drafting of and sending out invitations, preparing speaker briefings and helping to ensure the event runs smoothly on the day.
  • Implementing ambitious and consistent social media strategies for the agency and its clients. Tracking and optimising digital campaigns that raise awareness of the company and its clients, with a focus on monitoring, measurement and reporting.
  • Working with external partners including digital agencies on technical websites and SEO.
  • Supporting the wider team in securing new business for the agency, including contributing to proactive approaches and undertaking tasks as appropriate related to the preparation of proposals and pitches.
  • Supporting All-Party-Parliamentary Group secretariat duties as required.

Requirements:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject: Communications or Journalism preferred.
  • Experience in media relations, social media, digital marketing and event planning.
  • Experience in supporting the implementation of successful multi-media policy-led campaigns for organisations from the public, private and voluntary sectors.
  • An interest in public affairs and government engagement with a willingness to learn more.
  • Experience in delivering social media strategies campaigns and strong understanding of social media tools, drivers and trends.
  • An understanding of managing, maintaining and cultivating journalist relationships for communications campaigns.
  • Excellent writing skills and experience in writing articles, blogs, press releases, reports and presentations.
  • Ability to understand and absorb complex and nuanced pieces of information and policy and translate them into language suitable for different target audiences.
  • The ability to work and thrive as part of a small and dedicated team.
  • Well organised and able to manage multiple priorities and varying pressures to meet measurable targets and strict deadlines.
