Representatives of the urology sector call for patient needs to be addressed in the upcoming Health and Care Bill

In what was both an insightful and stimulating discussion, Whitehouse Communications and the Urology Trade Association (UTA) hosted a webinar, discussing the key priorities for the urology sector in light of the upcoming reforms to the NHS.

Joining the panel was Clare Waymont, Urology Advanced Nurse Practitioner and President of the British Association of Urological Nurses; Louise de Winter, Chief Executive of The Urology Foundation; and Hannah Gagen, Head of Government Affairs & Patient Advocacy at Coloplast.

The event was Chaired by Ruth Jones MP, member of the APPG for Bladder and Bowel Continence Care and Shadow Minister for Natural Environment and Air Quality.

Panellists discussed the importance of closer integration and collaboration being introduced in the Health and Social Care Bill, and agreed that the needs of patients must be promoted. Discussions took place on the importance of encouraging ‘shared decision making’, to ensure that the NHS facilitates and champions a collaborative process through which a clinician supports a patient to reach a decision about their treatment.
