Where’s the NHS going? Whitehouse reports

The countdown to summer recess is on and so is the countdown to find out who will be replacing Lord Stevens as head of NHS England. Last week, the former Head of Amazon UK, Douglas Garr, threw his hat into the ring, joining Amanda Pritchard, Lord Stevens’ deputy, and Mark Britnell, Vice-Chairman of KPMG as candidates for the role.

In other news, the long-awaited Health and Care Bill was formally introduced to Parliament last week and had its second reading this week. Next, the Bill will go to Committee stage, where each clause and any amendments to the Bill may be debated. The date for Committee stage has not yet been set, but it will be after Parliament returns from recess in September.

The team at Whitehouse present their latest report on NHS reform, which takes a look back at developments relating to the health service and looks ahead to what is coming up on the subject. This week’s report can be found here.
