Whitehouse to tackle M.E. with leading UK charity Action for M.E.

11 June 2015. Westminster based public affairs and communications specialist the Whitehouse Consultancy has announced that it is to represent Action for M.E. as its pro bono client for 2015-16.

Following a competitive application process, Whitehouse is to provide Action for M.E. with free public affairs and communications support over the next 12 months. Action for M.E. is the UK’s leading charity for people affected by Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, a chronic illness that causes symptoms affecting many body systems including the nervous and immune systems.

Action for M.E.’s mission is to empower people with M.E. to fulfil their potential and secure the care and support they need, while working towards a greater understanding of the illness and ultimately finding a cure.

Whitehouse will be working with the organisation to push M.E. up the health and social care agenda and communicating the needs of people with M.E. to newly elected parliamentarians. Support will also include help re-establishing the All Party Parliamentary Group for M.E. to raise awareness of the illness.

Chris Whitehouse, Chairman of the Whitehouse Consultancy, said:

“The importance of giving people suffering from M.E. and their families a voice really inspired our team. There are around 250,000 people in the UK with the illness and Action for M.E. hopes to make a real difference to the quality of their lives. We are delighted to be working with them on this project and hope to transform the policy landscape for people with M.E. in the UK.”

Sonya Chowdhury, Chief Executive of Action for M.E., said:

“We are extremely excited to have this opportunity to work with the Whitehouse Consultancy. We are confident that together we can make a real difference in the way that people suffering from M.E. are treated and really push awareness of the illness up the health and social care agenda.”
