Social mobility has hit reverse says TUC general secretary

The Coalition has been accused of bringing back class prejudice by the leader of the trade union movement. Frances O’Grady told TUC delegates in Liverpool today that Britain is in danger of becoming a “Downton Abbey-style”, saying there is no sign of the economic recovery in most people’s lives.

The Conservatives said the party would not take “lectures from a cluster of union bosses on six-figure pay deals”.

Labour leader Ed Miliband is set to deliver a speech to union leaders at the conference this evening.
