SNP childcare blow

The flagship childcare policy set out by the SNP has been dealt a major blow after official figures revealed a significant shortfall in the tax revenues it had been forecast to bring. The Scottish Parliament Information Centre said there are not enough mothers in Scotland who want to go back to work to deliver the dramatic increase in revenue predicted in the Scottish Government’s independence white paper. Labour claimed the paper showed the SNP’s childcare proposals were “shambolic” and had misled parents.
