Register shows companies that have access to patient data

The Health and Social Care Information Centre has published a new register which lists the names of the companies that have had access to patient data since April 2013. The data shows how private healthcare firms including Bupa and pharmaceutical companies such as Bayer, Baxter, AstraZeneca and Roche have purchased NHS patient data. Some firms used the information to come up with marketing strategies and work with clients to get new drugs into the healthcare system.
