It’s been reported that legislation to make causing emotional cruelty to children a criminal offence will be announced at the Queen’s Speech, with parents punished by up to ten years in prison. The bid follows a campaign for a ‘Cinderella Law’ by Robert Buckland MP and charity Action for Children. Individuals convicted of acts of emotional cruelty against children in their care will face the same threat of jail as those guilty of physical neglect.
