Government rule out devolving police powers to Welsh Assembly

Welsh Secretary David Jones MP has ruled out devolving police powers to the Welsh Assembly before next year’s General Election after an official report said Wales should be given control over youth justice immediately. Although welcoming the Silk Commission’s final report, which was set up to review devolution in Wales, David Jones MP said there was insufficient time to include the extra powers over policing to the upcoming Wales Bill.
