Jeremy Hunt questions Welsh Government response to high death rates

Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt has accused Labourโ€™s administration in Wales of a โ€œbetrayal of patientsโ€ after it was claimed that warnings about high death rates in six hospitals had been ignored. ย Labour MP Ann Clwyd initially raised concerns with the head of NHS England, Sir Bruce Keogh, who then emailed his Welsh counterpart about the โ€œworryingโ€ statistics. Although no investigation was launched, a Welsh Government spokesman insisted the authorities had โ€œacted quicklyโ€ to address problems in specific hospitals.
