The latest school league tables show that more of England’s secondary schools are meeting baseline government targets on GCSEs. A total of 154 state-funded schools out of about 3,200 are classed as under-performing – 61 fewer than last year. Schools are considered below target if fewer than 40% of pupils achieve at least a C grade at GCSE, including maths and English.
