The HS2 rail link is to have a dedicated further education college to train engineers. The Government said the college, which will be the first new Further Education College in more than two decades, will deliver the specialised training and qualifications needed for the HS2 line. As many as 2,000 apprentices will be needed to build the line, more than double the number of apprentices who built the Olympics and Crossrail. The Business Secretary Vince Cable said the investment in the railway should “also come with investment in the elite skills which will help build it”.
