Defence Secretary Philip Hammond MP has confirmed the failure of an IT system designed to overhaul Army recruitment. It was reported that the problems would cost the Ministry of Defence up to £15.5m, but the Defence Secretary insisted the Government had so far written off £6.7m, with an additional £1m per month to fund short-term measures to fill the gaps left by the system. The company Atlas was the planned provider for the platform, which would allow Capita to recruit soldiers online, but the Ministry of Defence will now pursue Capita’s own system itself.
