The Society of Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) has released figures showing car sales in the UK hit the highest number for six years in 2013. According to the industry trade body, 2.26 million vehicles were registered in 2013, marking a year-on-year increase of more than 10 per cent. This rise has led to the UK overtaking France to become Europe’s second biggest car market after Germany.
