The Office for National Statistics this morning published their latest monthly labour market statistics, covering the quarter May – July 2013. The figures show that unemployment fell by 24,000 on the previous quarter, and now stands at 2.49 million, with the unemployment rate dropping 0.1% to 7.7%. The number of JSA claimants fell for the 10th consecutive month, with 1.44 million people now claiming, the lowest level since February 2009.
