The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced and collaborative Account Manager to join our team, driving activity across our existing client accounts and contributing to new business efforts. As an Account Manager, you will be at the forefront of our EU and UK political campaigns and regulartory work, playing a pivotal role in the continuous delivery of our integrated public affairs strategy.
This is a client facing role that would suit an individual who thrives on political communication and enjoys building relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels. If you’re someone who’s skilled in crafting and delivering policy and campaign strategies for membership organisations in the health and food sectors, we’re especially excited to hear from you.
Whitehouse has clients across the health, human rights, media, nutrition and education sectors. The new Account Manager would thrive in a fast-moving entrepreneurial atmosphere, have a strong work ethic, and a proven interest in politics and public affairs in the EU and the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
- Client relationship management: Take the reins on client accounts, delivering exceptional results with minimal oversight. Develop and implement long-term strategic approaches, ensuring client needs are met and exceeded. Collaborate closely with consultants to maintain constant communication and provide regular updates to directors.
- Policy expertise and strategic advice: Lead the policy development efforts by creating well-researched and compelling position papers, consultation responses, and briefings that advocate for meaningful change, in areas including food and drink, public health, sustainability and digital in the EU and the UK. Alongside directors, devise and execute effective public affairs and advocacy campaigns that raise awareness, engage stakeholders, and influence policy decisions. Help clients navigate complex policy and regulations. Contribute to the drafting of annual strategies for client accounts, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and objectives.
- Relationship building: Cultivate strong connections and build trust with clients, parliamentarians, officials, industry and journalists, attending meetings and driving action items.
- Team leadership: Empower the team to excel and ensure continuous delivery and effective collaboration. Maintain high standards by supervising the production of external written materials, ensuring accuracy and relevance. From briefings to consultation responses to reports, your attention to detail will shine through. Previous line management experience essential.
- Strategic insight: Offering high-level public affairs and policy advice across industries, particularly in the areas of public health, sustainability and wider issues affecting businesses. Your insights will guide clients in navigating complex landscapes.
- Business growth: Lead new business initiatives by identifying and pursuing opportunities, expanding our presence in emerging sectors. You’ll play a pivotal role in maintaining profitability and securing long-term client partnerships and growing membership bodies where our role is to provide the Secretariat.
- Brand ambassadorship: Represent our company with pride, both internally and externally. Support our PR efforts, contributing to our reputation as industry leaders.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in public affairs and politics. Agency and parliamentary experience essential
- Understanding of the UK and EU political and policy landscape. Proven ability to run public affairs campaigns and help clients navigate complex regulations.
- Proven experience in public affairs, account management, and team leadership.
- Strong project management, strategic thinking and communication skills.
- Expertise in client relationship management and business development. Proven experience of securing new business.
- Ability to understand and absorb complex and nuanced pieces of information and policy and translate them into language suitable for different target audience.
- Well organised and able to manage multiple priorities and varying pressures to meet measurable targets and strict deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with an ability to communicate with a range of decision makers.
