Public Affairs Associate Consultant

Salary: £26,000 – £32,000 per annum depending on experience

Contract: Full-time, Permanent.

Whitehouse Communications is an independent issues-led integrated communications agency based in London, specialising in public affairs, policy analysis, media relations and crises communications. We advise clients on how effectively and positively to engage with key decision-makers in Brussels, Westminster, Whitehall, and local government. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a talented team across a range of UK accounts, supporting the implementation of the day-to-day public affairs projects. This is a busy role, working within a small team responsible for political engagement, monitoring, external communications, reputation management and events. Whitehouse has clients across the health, human rights, corporate, nutrition and education industries. The new Associate Consultant would thrive in a fast-moving entrepreneurial atmosphere and have a proven interest in politics and public affairs.

Responsibilities:

• Delivering client PA strategies to deadlines and reporting back to colleagues.
• Production of materials including monitoring reports, briefings, stakeholder lists, speeches and presentations.
• Researching position papers, consultation responses, and briefings that advocate for meaningful change, in areas including children’s rights, public health, environmental sustainability and digital in the UK.
• Policy research on key areas
• Draft communications with clients, parliamentarians, officials, and other relevant stakeholders.
• Organising, promoting and attending events representing the company and its clients.
• Supporting the wider team in securing new business for the agency, including contributing to proactive approaches and undertaking tasks as appropriate related to the preparation of proposals and pitches.

Requirements:

• Previous experience in public affairs – agency, in-house or parliament
• Understanding of the UK political and policy landscape
• Background knowledge on health policy.
• Excellent writing skills and experience in writing articles, blogs, press releases, reports and presentations.
• Ability to understand and absorb complex and nuanced pieces of information and policy and translate them into language suitable for different target audiences.
• The ability to work and thrive as part of a small and dedicated team as well as without supervision.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with an ability to communicate with a range of decision makers.
• Well organised and able to manage multiple priorities and varying pressures to meet measurable targets and strict deadlines.
