It’s true, I admit it. As a young man, I was a criminal smuggler of controversial contraband into the then communist country of Czechoslovakia.
This shocking admission comes in the light of a series of exposes over recent weeks of other now prominent Conservative party activists who, in their own way, nibbled away in their youth at the foundations of the communist bloc, and who can look back with pride and say: “Yes, I was there, and I did what I could”.
