Taking the issue of mobility straight to the heart of parliament
Background
The recipient of Whitehouse’s 2019 pro bono scheme was Motivation, a development charity and social enterprise that specialises in getting high quality wheelchairs to those who need them in low-income, low-provision countries. We worked with the organisation to deliver four months of political communications support to boost their political profile and establish key political relationships and advocates.
Our approach
We launched our collaboration with a workshop to hone their messaging for each of their key stakeholder groups. We taught them how to see their organisation from a political perspective, and how to use that to their advantage. We introduced the organisation to their local MPs, and key stakeholders of the future across Whitehall and relevant country embassies to shore up support for them in the uncertain times ahead. Through this engagement, we secured visits by three local MPs to their warehouse in Bristol. We introduced the organisation to the FCO, DIT, and BEIS with tailored asks, building on their established relationship with DfID. We opened channels of communication in the embassies of countries which they are active in, including Kenya and Uganda. We wound up our support by devising a communications strategy for them to take forward independently, and are still on hand for them as and when they need the support.
