When an important Ofgem decision and consultation raised concerns with Invinity – the UK’s largest manufacturer of vanadium energy storage and a world leader in flow battery technology – the company turned to Whitehouse to secure engagement with senior government decision-makers. In just four weeks, spanning the summer recess, Whitehouse built a comprehensive political engagement programme that has already secured meetings with special advisers to relevant secretaries of state, a senior policymaker site visit, and cross-party letters of support to the DESNZ Secretary of State.
The challenge
Invinity, the UK’s largest manufacturer of vanadium energy storage and the world leader in flow battery technology, approached Whitehouse for support in engaging senior government decision-makers and ministers on a critical Ofgem decision and consultation.
Our approach
Whitehouse liaised directly with ministerial offices, facilitating meetings with key policymakers to set out Invinity’s concerns, the risks at stake, and the opportunities on offer. We developed a clear policy ask that addressed Invinity’s challenge and served as the anchor for our political engagement. Drawing on our extensive network of MPs, officials, ministers and special advisers, Whitehouse ensured Invinity’s concerns were understood at the highest levels – and that action followed.
The outcome
In just four weeks – spanning the summer recess – Whitehouse developed a narrative and messaging document, a stakeholder map, and a full suite of internal and external briefings, underpinning a comprehensive outreach programme to key secretaries of state, ministers, MPs and special advisers.
This work has already secured meetings with three special advisers to relevant secretaries of state, a site visit from a senior government policymaker, and multiple letters of support to the DESNZ Secretary of State from key MPs, including the chair of a select committee.
