Today is World Press Freedom Day, an occasion to celebrate the noble traditions of journalism in its widest forms, but also to mourn the dimming of the torch of such freedom as repressive and tyrannical regimes around the world over seek for their own benefit to stamp out comment, analysis and plain factual reporting.
