Some local healthcare services in England have been left underfunded due to problems with Whitehall’s system of allocation, a report by the National Audit Office has said. Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs), NHS England area teams and local authorities all receive separate funding allocations to commission services for their local populations. The report has found huge discrepancies between funding afforded to different local services, with West London being over-funded to the tune of more than £500 per head and Corby being under-funded with £186 per head. Margaret Hodge, Chair of the Public Accounts Committee said the way funds were allocated was “outrageous”.
