Whitehall launches probe into health and wellbeing boards

The Health Service Journal has reported that health authorities will launch a review into whether Health and Wellbeing Boards (HWBs) are involving providers in better care fund plans. In a move to support Health and Wellbeing Boards to secure input from health providers, the Department of Health will work with Monitor, the Trust Development Authority, the NHS Confederation and the Local Government Association, following concerns from providers that they were excluded from discussions. The enquiry will not amount to a local review and there are currently no plans to change the legal basis of HWBs.
