Funding boost for childcare in Wales

Childcare in Wales is to receive a boost with new funding due to be provided to local authorities to help working families. The new Out of School Childcare grant, funded by a £2.3m Welsh Government investment, is designed to help councils set up and run local childcare in school holidays, before and after school. Under the scheme, all twenty-two Welsh councils will be given funding to provide quality, affordable childcare. The plan has been welcomed by parents who claim the school calendar does not fit in with core working hours.
