Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt has accused Labour’s administration in Wales of a “betrayal of patients” after it was claimed that warnings about high death rates in six hospitals had been ignored. Labour MP Ann Clwyd initially raised concerns with the head of NHS England, Sir Bruce Keogh, who then emailed his Welsh counterpart about the “worrying” statistics. Although no investigation was launched, a Welsh Government spokesman insisted the authorities had “acted quickly” to address problems in specific hospitals.
