Labour Shadow Education Secretary Tristram Hunt MP has called for children to be taught ‘attentiveness’ skills to help combat the influence of social media. Hunt said children “need to learn the ability to concentrate for sustained periods.”  Hunt added that a more rounded attitude to learning would not undermine the drive towards ever greater academic achievement. Hunt also said that he wants to see a move away from schools being “exam factories” and do more to equip youngsters with the life skills needed in the workplace.
