The UK’s economic recovery has become “entrenched”, a leading think tank has said as it increased its forecast for growth in 2014 to 2.5%. The National Institute of Social and Economic Research also said it expected unemployment to fall below 7% by the end of the year, though it predicted average wages would not recover to pre-recession levels until 2020. However, it was not all positive with the think tank finding that “not all measures of economic performance have improved; a corollary of the performance of output and employment is that the UK’s productivity performance has remained abysmal.”
